Please note: An update has been added to this post and the deadline extended to Saturday noon EST!
If you have a mom or grandma in your life, be thankful! This Mother's Day (May 9th), consider sending her (or another lady who has blessed your life) a flower that will last. Contribute $10 to our Emergency Equipment Fund in her name, and we'll send her a picture of one of our SCH children (you can choose which child if you'd like!) holding a decorated paper flower with a special thank-you message for her.
The flower might say, "Granny Stephens, you rock!" or "God bless you, Mama Karen" or "In Memory of Jackie", "Thanks so much, Ms. Amy!" or "You're the best, Aunt Jo!" or "You bless many lives, Cathy!" or "You're wonderful, Celine!" or "Pastor Carol, you're loved!"The photo will be emailed on Mother's Day, along with a note to let the recipient know that in her honor (or in memory of his/her loved one), a donation was made to help equip homes for abandoned children with special needs in India with emergency medical equipment.
(Our littlest baby, Aloe, in an ER in Hyderabad. In Ongole, where we live, ERs are poorly equipped and aren't always open or staffed)With 82 children who have severe special needs at Sarah's Covenant Homes, sometimes we need quick access to equipment like a suction apparatus, an oxygen saturation/heart monitor, etc. We currently have no life-sustaining emergency equipment, but we've recently (tragically) learned how crucial it is to have some ER equipment on hand and to know how to use it when a child's life is at stake.
A team of medical professionals is coming from America in a few weeks to train us in emergency techniques and the use of emergency equipment in the event that we should find ourselves in a critical situation again and need them. I'd love for us to have as much equipment on hand by then as possible. Here are just a few of the things we need:

To help, click on the "Donate" button at the top, right-hand sidebar under the "Flowers that Last" button. Enter the amount you're donating (at least $10 per photo), and then, just before you check out, click on "+specify # of photos, messages, kids..." and enter your message (for example: "3 photos: "God bless you, Kate" held by Glory to abc@123.com, "Percy loves Joan" held by any child--no preference--to 123@abc.com , and "Hallelujah, thank you Jesus" held by David to god@heaven.com .") Pretty simple! There you go--you're all set for Mother's Day, and if your mom or grandma is anything like mine, a gift like this will probably move her much more than a #1 Mom coffee mug anyway.Special thanks to Leslie (this is her inspiration and she and her kids have worked hard to prepare for it), to Chantelle who designed the FTL button, and to Nikki of Blogs for a Cause (who's coming over to volunteer and will coordinate it and send out the emails.)
I also really want to thank my Mom Nancy & Grandma May for being so tender-hearted and always showing me by example what it means to care about hurting people. I love you both and miss you both so much!

Feel BLESSED to be a teeny weeny part of this beautiful idea. Can't wait to order mine! I'm ordering a bunch for MY mom and I also told my older kids that's what I'd like for MY gift for Mother's Day from THEM this year.
Love you all!

What a great idea! Can't wait to be a part of it. I may have some extra equipment that we could spare...an oximeter, portable suction machine or two, ambu bag etc...Just let me know if you could use any of these and give me a list of what else you might be thinking of. All of our equipment is only a couple of years old.
Yes, SUPER idea!!!! Love it and will definitely be participating!!
:) Kristi W.
Julie, that's awesome. Is the equipment usable with 220 voltage or can it be used with a converter without frying?
Julie (or Sarah) have Weldon at our end check the electrical out - I am sure he can figure out a good solution to the 220/110 question. :) Ordering my mom a card ASAP!
I love this idea! Great way for us to give back to our Moms as well as make a difference in the lives of the SCH kid. I hope you don't mind I posted the link on my blog, www.moms4change.net, as well onto FB & Twitter. Thanks for bringing change! Happy Mother's Day!
hey i just 'ordered' the mother's day gift, but realized I didn't give you my mom's email address? Are you gonna send it to me and I forward it to her? Thanks!
Danielle, thanks so much! I visited your site and I love what you do!
You can email me your mom's address if you want (sarahscovenanthomes@ymail.com) or I can just send it to you, whichever is easier.
LOVE this idea. I'll definitely be ordering some of these precious flowers in the next day or two (as soon as I figure out the details).
Blessings,
Sarah
